Work With Us

Rooted in care. Built for healing. Designed with you in mind.

At National Deaf Therapy (NDT), we are proud to be building a practice that centers Deaf lives, language, and community. Our team is made up of Deaf, QTBIPOC, and first-generation professionals—many of whom have never worked in a space where they could fully be themselves. We’re changing that.

We are redefining what it means to work in mental health by creating a culture that supports healing not only for our clients, but for our team.

How We Think About Compensation and Care

We’ve designed our compensation and benefits with a few key beliefs in mind:

  1. Healing is expensive. We believe that our therapists deserve financial stability so they can care for others without sacrificing their own well-being.
  2. Therapists from Deaf, QTBIPOC, and first-generation backgrounds are essential to this work. We are committed to hiring with intention and supporting long-term sustainability for our team.
  3. We don’t believe in burnout as a badge of honor. Paying well, reducing administrative burden, and creating flexible structures are some of the ways we protect against it.
  4. The mental health field has long underpaid and overburdened its providers—especially those serving marginalized communities. We’re not interested in replicating that model.

What We Offer

We’re continually evolving the support we provide to meet the real-life needs of our contractors. While we’re not a large organization (yet), we believe transparency and sustainability go hand in hand.

Here’s what’s currently available to Deaf and signing therapists who meet our full-time contractor benchmarks (80 sessions/month for 6 out of 12 months):

  • $75/hour minimum pay for those with Tier 3 caseloads (80+ sessions/month)
  • Optional income consistency for contractors who want predictable pay during time off or lower-volume periods
  • Health insurance reimbursement—you choose the plan that best fits your life, your needs, and your family. We support that autonomy by helping cover the cost, without boxing you into a one-size-fits-all option.
  • Wellness support stipend annually to encourage rest and rejuvenation
  • Licensure reimbursement to support expansion into additional states
  • True scheduling freedom—you decide when, how often, and how much you work, including time off, holidays, and rest days. Flexibility is built in as we support balance, rest, and autonomy
  • Access to peer support through optional twice-monthly gatherings: one for clinical discussion, one for community connection
  • Opportunities for leadership and specialization within your clinical interests
  • Administrative support so you can focus more on your clients and less on backend systems

Note: All optional benefits are offered to support the sustainability of your practice and participation is never required. Eligibility for stipends is based on session data and reviewed annually.

What We're Building Together

Our culture is one of accountability, compassion, and community. We talk about equity and practice it. We name harm and repair it. We show up for our clients and for each other. We are not perfect, but we are honest—and deeply committed to doing things differently.
